Customers

Who your customers are, the optional company they work for, and how to find one fast.

This applies to both workflows

What are the two workflows?

A customer is the person you deal with: their name, phone, email and address. Add one under Customers > Add Customer, or change one with Edit on their page.

Company (optional)

A customer can have one company: the business they are buying for, like a property manager booking for their firm. The person stays the contact. With a company set:

  • Lists and pickers show Walt Barnhill · Acme Property Management.
  • Quotes and invoices say Prepared for: Acme Property Management, attn: Walt Barnhill, on the page, the PDF and the email. Without a company they show the person's name, as before.
  • The job page and the driver's view show the company under the customer's name.

Your website's quote form does not ask for a company; you add it. A dumpster booking's optional Company name is saved onto the customer when they do not have one yet, and never replaces one you set.

Finding a customer

The search on Customers, and in every customer picker when you create a quote, a job, a booking or a work order, matches the name, company, phone or email. Typing "Acme" finds Walt.

Common mistakes

"I typed the company and the customer did not come up."

Search finds a company only once it is saved on the customer. Open the customer, press Edit, fill in Company and save.
