Your website
Connect Google Analytics, Search Console and Bing
Connect your site to Google's and Microsoft's own tools so you can see how people find it: Analytics, Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, plus submitting your sitemap to both.
This applies to both workflows
What are the two workflows?Three free tools, each run by Google or Microsoft, each showing you something different about your site at yourname.myhaulhq.com. Google Analytics shows who visits and what they look at. Google Search Console shows which searches showed your site and which pages Google has indexed. Bing Webmaster Tools shows the same for Bing. All three are optional, none is required to take bookings, and the data stays in their tools -- HaulHQ does not copy it.
Start in Website, at the top
The Connect Google and Bing card at the top of Website shows which of the three you have added and your sitemap address with a Copy button. The fields themselves are further down the same tab, under Google Analytics and Google Search Console and Bing.
1. Google Analytics
- 1In Google Analytics, create a property for your business and a Web data stream for your site address.
- 2Copy the Measurement ID. It starts with
G-. - 3In HaulHQ, open Website, paste it into Measurement ID under Google Analytics, and Save.
One limit to know before you rely on it: Analytics cannot see the quote form being submitted, because the form runs in its own frame. Tracking and ads explains why and where to count leads instead.
2. Google Search Console
- 1In Search Console, press Add property and choose URL prefix -- not Domain.
- 2Enter your site address exactly as Website shows it, starting with
https://-- for examplehttps://yourname.myhaulhq.com. - 3Under Other verification methods, choose HTML tag and copy the whole tag.
- 4In HaulHQ, open Website, paste the tag into Google Search Console verification, and Save. You can paste the whole tag or just the code inside
content="..."; HaulHQ keeps only the code. - 5Back in Search Console, press Verify.
- 6Then submit your sitemap: in Search Console open Indexing > Sitemaps, paste your sitemap address (
https://yourname.myhaulhq.com/sitemap.xml, or copy it from the card), and press Submit.
Why not the Google Analytics method?
Search Console offers to verify through your Analytics tag. Use the HTML tag instead: it is the method this page is written for, and it works whether or not you use Analytics.
3. Bing Webmaster Tools
- 1In Bing Webmaster Tools, choose Import your sites from Google Search Console and sign in with the Google account you used above. Bing brings your verified site across, and Bing says the import brings the sitemaps you submitted in Search Console too.
- 2Open Sitemaps in Bing. If your sitemap address is not listed, press Submit sitemap, paste it, and submit.
- 3Not using Search Console? Add your site in Bing by hand instead, choose the HTML Meta Tag method, paste the tag into Bing Webmaster verification in HaulHQ, Save, then press Verify in Bing and submit the sitemap as above.
Separately from all of this, HaulHQ already notifies Bing, Yandex, Seznam and Naver through IndexNow when your pages change -- no setup on your part. IndexNow is not Google: Google does not take those notifications, which is why the Search Console sitemap step above is worth doing.
When your own domain goes live
Once your own domain is connected and live, your yourname.myhaulhq.com address forwards to it. Add a new URL-prefix property in Search Console for the new domain and verify it the same way -- the tag you already saved is on every address your site answers on, so there is nothing to change in HaulHQ -- then submit the sitemap at the new address, and add the new domain in Bing.
Common mistakes
"Search Console asked me for a DNS record."
You chose Domain property. That asks for a record on myhaulhq.com, which is HaulHQ's domain, not yours, so it cannot work. Remove it and add a URL prefix property instead.
"I pasted my G- ID into the Search Console field."
The G- Measurement ID goes in Google Analytics. The Search Console field takes the google-site-verification tag.
"I verified haulhq.app."
That is HaulHQ's own site and you cannot verify it. Use your own address, the one Website shows -- for example https://yourname.myhaulhq.com.
"The card says Added, so I am verified."
Added means HaulHQ has your tag and puts it on your pages. Only Google and Bing can say whether verification worked; check in their tools.
"Where is my Search Console data in HaulHQ?"
It lives in Google's tool, and Bing's in Bing's. HaulHQ does not copy or show it.
