What are the two workflows?

This is the option where you own the website -- your domain, your hosting, your pages, your theme -- and HaulHQ plugs into it. The bridge plugin gives you shortcodes that drop the quote form, the booking widget, your products, reviews, service area and photo gallery onto any page you like.

The plugin is free, and it is the whole integration

There is no separate charge for connecting a WordPress site. Install the bridge plugin, paste in an API key, and the same booking machinery that runs your HaulHQ page runs on yours. A job booked through a shortcode on your site is identical to one booked anywhere else.

What you get that the free page cannot give you

  • Your own domain.
  • As many pages as you want -- service pages, city pages, a real about page.
  • A blog, and the SEO surface that comes with publishing.
  • Full control of design and layout through your theme.

What you take on

  • Hosting, and the bill for it.
  • WordPress and plugin updates, and the security that goes with them.
  • Actually building and writing the pages, or paying someone to.

Where to start

  1. 1Get your HaulHQ side configured first -- service area, catalog, hours. The shortcodes render what is in your account, so an empty account renders empty pages.
  2. 2Install and connect the plugin. See Install the WordPress plugin.

  4. 4Test a real booking or quote from your phone, on the live site rather than a preview.

Two different things are called a "hero"

The shortcode pages talk about pasting a snippet into your home page hero -- that is your WordPress theme's vocabulary for the big area at the top of a page, and it is what your theme will call it too. HaulHQ's own Cover Photo, under Settings > Website, is a different thing entirely: it is the image on your HaulHQ page and it has no effect on your WordPress site.

Common mistakes

"I need WordPress before HaulHQ will work."

You do not. Your HaulHQ page already takes bookings. WordPress is the option you pick when you want your own domain and more pages.

"Do I pay HaulHQ for the WordPress plugin?"

No. The bridge plugin is free. What you pay for is your own hosting and domain, and whoever builds the site.

"I installed the plugin and my pages are still empty."

The shortcodes render what is in your account. An empty catalog or a service area with no cities produces pages that load and show nothing -- which reads as a plugin fault and is not one.

"Can I keep both my WordPress site and my HaulHQ page?"

Yes, and many operators do. The HaulHQ page is a useful thing to paste into a text message or a Google Business Profile even when your main site is elsewhere.
